2026 Year of Intercession: Breaking Ground in Losite Payam
By Ojimi Mandela | Missionary
A Month-by-Month Prayer Journey for the Lango Lorwama People
The Lango Lorwama of South Sudan are a people of strength, hidden in the rugged beauty of Losite Payam. But as they move their herds across the valley, many move without the light of the Gospel.
Inspired by the words of Haggai 1:8, "Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple," we believe that 2026 is the year of the spiritual breakthrough. We invite you to join us in this year-long journey. Save this post and stand with us as we seek God first for the Lorwama.
Quarter 1: The Soil of the Heart (Preparation)
“Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground...” — Hosea 10:12
January: Spiritual Awakening. Pray for the "breaking of the fallow ground." Ask God to stir a divine restlessness in the hearts of the Lorwama.
Scripture: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you." (Ezekiel 36:26)
February: The Elders and Chiefs. Pray for the traditional leaders of Losite Payam—that they would have "Macedonian Dreams" inviting the Gospel into their land.
Scripture: "The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes." (Proverbs 21:1)
March: Breaking Strongholds. Pray specifically against the spirits of fear and the cycle of revenge.
Scripture: "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds." (2 Corinthians 10:4)
Quarter 2: The Seed of the Word (Translation & Literacy)
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” — Isaiah 40:8
April: The Gift of Language. Ask the Lord to provide the resources and linguists needed to begin a Mother Tongue translation.
Scripture: "And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues... we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God." (Acts 2:4, 11)
May: Literacy and Understanding. Pray for a desire among the youth to learn to read, so that they may one day read the scriptures for themselves.
Scripture: "The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple." (Psalm 119:130)
June: Oral Storytelling. Pray for "Oral Bible Storying" missionaries to share the Gospel through stories that herders can memorize in the cattle camps.
Scripture: "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17)
Quarter 3: The Living Stones (Church & Community)
“You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house.” — 1 Peter 2:5
July: The First Converts. Pray for the "First Fruits"—the first men and women in Losite to confess Jesus.
Scripture: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)
August: Peace in the Kraals. Pray for the end of cattle rustling and the beginning of "Peace Covenants."
Scripture: "He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two." (Psalm 46:9)
September: The Gathering Place. Pray for a dedicated place of worship to be established in Losite Payam.
Scripture: "For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations." (Isaiah 56:7)
Quarter 4: The Fruit of Civilization (Health & Education)
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33
October: The Healing Hand. Pray for medical breakthroughs and the arrival of mobile clinics.
Scripture: "But He was wounded for our transgressions... and by His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)
November: Christian Schools. Ask for the establishment of the first Christian school for the Lorwama children.
Scripture: "All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children." (Isaiah 54:13)
December: A Christmas of Hope. Pray that by the end of the year, the name of Jesus is known in every household in Losite.
Scripture: "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined." (Isaiah 9:2)
PRAYER FOR LOSITE PAYAM
Heavenly Father, we stand in the gap for the Lango Lorwama. We ask that 2026 would be the year their "silent" language finally speaks Your praise. We pray that as Your House is built in their hearts, the fruits of Your Kingdom—peace, health, and wisdom—would overflow into every corner of Losite Payam. Amen.
